All About the Cat

"So anyway, I told Gandalf that if he looked out the window long enough, he'd go cross-eyed! And he believed me! Oh, I know, but I'm just being the older brother, heh heh...oh, hi Mom."

"Why am I in a gym bag?? This isn't cool. Not cool at all. Why am I outside? And what are those SMELLS!??"

"OK Atticus. Breathe. Breathe. In. Out. In. Out. Oh...Calm blue ocean. Calm blue ocean..."

"I can't believe I fell for this... Go with your gut Atticus, go with your gut... But noooo, I have to fall for being picked up and petted and kissed on the head like it was my birthday or something. Now I'm stuck on this cold table with some lady probing my butt and telling me I have to watch my weight...yeah, watch this lady. And as for you, Mom... I'm so freakin' pissed off I could spit."

"If you think I'm going to forget this. Think again. I have a memory like you wouldn't. Believe. When you least exp....oh, hey! Is it dinner time? Cool!"

Finally. I had to resort to stuffing him into a gym bag, but it worked. Mister finally made it to his appointment, spitting mad. More bark than bite (he was actually spitting on the table), but in the end, he made it. Not as heavy as I'd expected (20.2 lbs, up from 19 lbs last time around), but all in all, in good health.

But, wouldn't you know it... He's been in the box every 10 minutes since last night. I'm praying it isn't crystals again, but judging by the way he's running around and playing master and commander with his toys (and Gandalf), he's *hopefully* just reacting to the senior food the vet has him on now. I'm going to be watching him closely to see what develops (or hopefully doesn't).

There is precious little on the knitting front. Thanks to everyone who gave me sock knitting tips, and especially to Bev who sent a few very simple patterns my way! I have to keep trying, seeing how I have a load of sock yarn that's not going to knit itself...

Now, wouldn't that be something if it could? Or at least started itself for me...

Well, as a matter of fact...http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8262435
They don't quite knit themselves, but it's pretty close!

Bridge- The old "kitty in the gym-bag" trick. I'm sure our boy was not amused.

KC is still at his 22lb fighting weight.

So, are you saying that socks don't knit themselves?

20lbs.? Wow! I don't think my cat was ever more than 10lbs, but I would love to have a big cat one day!

Oh, I hope it isn't crystals! :( Did you do a taper or abrupt switch on the food?

Go, sock knitting!!! You can do it You can do it You can do it!

Hmm, the snow just picked up - it's snowed (lightly) every day since Friday - right after spring started.

Oh brother, I hope you don't get a visit from the "authorities" after putting your boy through such abuse ...

Jetsam will be pleased to know that he isn't the only big boy o' fur around!

Socks - it was hard for me to get started, but now they are usually my go-to knitting, maybe you'll get hooked too.

Happy Easter, and I hope everyone stays well!

HAHAH! I love that 3rd photo!
Wow! 20lbs! He's no fly weight!
Spitting on the table.. now that's MAD! (Hee-hee still laughing!)
Oh Atticus, you know I love you! :)
My childhood cat was 20lbs in his prime. I miss him.

Aaaw, poor Atticus! I hope all is well with him, and that there's nothing worrying developing.

*hugs tight for you and the kitties*

Happy Easter!

Poor guy, yep, I'm guessing you won't live this one down anytime soon. Here's hoping he's adjusting to his new AARP food. ;)

Poor Atticus! Jack told me to tell you that. And, that he would be up there is a jiff to make you walk the plank for such bad Mommy behavior!

Me on the other hand, thinks the gym bag is ingenious and have one out now to put Jack in so he can calm down from the reading of your post!

Keep going on those socks. They are addictive once you get started. Soon your sock drawer will be filled with soft, cushy, warm, hank knit socks!

I think they should knit the second one themselves. It seems only fair.

Oh poor Atticus! He does look quite miffed in that photo. Good thing he loves you (and food).

Stuffed in a gym bag and then probed no less! The indignity! Good thing he loves food. Now I'm curious what my chubby kitty weighs.

Oh, I'm laughing so hard. I hope Galdalf will forgive me! But, I am SO going to pay for that tomorrow morning. Tim "I haven't been allowed to stay awake during a vet visit in years" is going for a checkup tomorrow. He hisses and spits the entire way in the car (1 hr). And they'll have to knock him out to even get near him for bloodwork, etc. He's been drinking too much water so I want to make sure he's all right. Heaven please help us if he needs to go on meds.

Rosie is going too -- what are the odds she'll be able to talk him down?

I'm glad you finally got Atticus to the vet. He sounds like a handful... what a great idea to use a gym bag.

Good luck on your sock knitting. They're kind of like knitting a one colored in-the-round sleeve, then add toes and a heel... so you can do it. You already know how to knit FI sleeves!
The good thing about socks is they're small so you can take them anywhere to work on.

Taking cats to the vet must be the absolute worst pet to take to the vet. Even Basil isn't as bad as my cats were. Basil actually enjoys the outing. The dogs of course are pretty easy, they love car rides.

Well, the vet visit is done for another year! Yay! I hope Atticus turns out OK.

I hope the sock knitting goes well! There are some other lovely accessory patterns for sock yarn out there. Fountain is a pretty beret in one of the recent issues of IK.
