Laleli

When you're stuffed up, it's hard to pronounce.

But, that doesn't really matter, because I just need to see and touch this piece of loveliness to appreciate it.

*sniff*

The deets:

Laleli, by Jade Starmore, size Small. Knit on 3.25mm using 3-ply Hebridean. Started? *cough cough who cares*. Finished? This past weekend, so let's say October 3rd.

As stranded projects go, this was a fairly easy one. The pattern and charts were clearly written with no errors, and it all flowed nicely into place. The buttonband was a bit tedious at nearly 400 stitches, but ehn. What are you going to do. I really enjoyed this project, and what can I say? I loves her. She fits perfectly, and is comfy and warm. I think I may change the buttons though, they're a bit small. Which is a shame really, seeing how I only bought the same buttons twice, they were so perfect for this design.

Heh. Now it's on to finishing poor neglected Delores. Well, at least as for as colourwork goes. We shall not speak of the other poor, neglected projects...

Moving on.

So, I spent the better part of this week hacking and coughing and moaning. I came down with a cold late last week, the first one in a VERY long time. How long? Well, the only cold remedies I had in the apartment expired in 2005. Yup. I really shouldn't complain, but. I will. Damn cold. I'm still feeling kind of blah, but definitely better than I did earlier in the week.

I've said it before, and will say it again - not a good sick person. At. All. Sure, I may get some epic ear infections, but when it comes to colds, they are few and far between. And the flu? Knock wood - but I've never in my 40 years had the flu. Like I said - bum ears? I've got them. Colds and the flu? Knock me out and turn me into a snivelling, shuffling, snotty little child. Heck, I even fell asleep on the couch and missed Family Guy on Sunday night.

Now that is bad.

"Look, I fit just fine on this."

Somewhere under all of that...cat is my sock yarn. Obviously makes a comfy sleeping spot. He arm wrestled Mae for this spot; she had dibs on it until Atticus decided he was bigger and well, bigger.

"Wha'...?! Honest, Big Guido started it! He's sitting on the back deck and flippin' me the bird! Mom! He thinks he's such a tough kitty... Why should I get off the counter?! He should be getting off the deck... Lucky for him I'm not an outdoor cat... Oh alright! I'm getting down!"

A very happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends!

It is gorgeous!!!

Sorry to hear you've been so sick. :( Are you getting better?

LOL at Gandalf on the counter. They always have a perfectly good reason to be up there, don't they??

I hope you're better - or getting there quickly! I think I might be getting sick, too, and am dreading it.

I love the pic of Atticus on the sock yarn. Too classic. The only thing that would make it more amusing (for ME) is if you had, at that moment, wanted your sock yarn...

Laleli is gorgeous! I think if I knit something like that I would wear it every day, just on principle ...

Hope you feel better soon. I started with a cold, which of course is now bronchitis. This a.m. I coughed, and my lovely boss said, "Oh God, Bridget I wish you would stop - it's driving me crazy!" (Because I need to have a job, I did not respond with something like "Really, 'cause I'm having a blast.")

Ah, the kitchen counter. I feel certain that our cats have parties there all day when we are away ...

Hope everyone at your house has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

What? Make my own?! heehee! I know!! :D

Atticus looks like a muffin... I must be hungry. Have a great Turkey Day!

(Mr K was a penguin last Halloween. He had like 3 costumes - spoiled! I haven't heard about this year yet.)

Absolutely stunning! Love the colors.

Yarn is so comfy for humans, think how nice it is for warm kitty fur.

Laleli in all her purple glory! Just beautiful. Hope your cold is all gone. I always forget between colds just how miserable they can be.

Re: kitties on the counter. Madison sits on the counter and gazes at his own reflection in the microwave for HOURS.

Brigitte- Can you take Echinacea? 1000mg a day seems to ward off the nasties. There's been alot of sick people this year.
Laleli is beautiful- congratulations.

Atticus is just guarding the sock yarn from creeping marauders.

Hope your cold it better now!

Atticus looks so funny on your sock yarn basket. He almost doesn't fit, but that doesn't deter him a bit!
Have a great time wearing your new Laleli and Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry to hear you are feeling lousy just before Thanksgiving, colds really do suk! :( I second Lorraine's Echinacea suggestion.

Laleli is truly gorgeous! And your picture was outstanding, so much prettier than I ever thought based on the VY site photos. Congratulations! I'm sincerely jealous :) And Happy Thanksgiving!

That sweater is jaw-droppingly stunning. I would wear it every day for a week if I were you!

Here's hoping you are all mended now, and had a terrific Thanksgiving.

Gandalf isn't allowed on the kitchen counter? Poor kitty. Atticus cracks me up.

Laleli!!! She is DONE! She is beautiful, Brigitte!

I hope you're feeling better! I like having feverish colds but not so much stuffed up ones.

Beautiful, I especially love the buttonband

Laleli looks wonderful, Brigitte. Shh! Looks like the seller approves. Personally, I think it's great when yarn that has been stashed for a while, is given a new life by other knitters.

Man, you are scaring me with the Jamieson's yarn issues. I can't believe that happened to you twice!

There are sweaters I want to make, and if I actually finished a sweater with a totally different color from the same dye lot, it would probably be my first and last sweater.

That said, I would still wear it, just because I'd managed to finish something!

I love the hearts sweater! It's so gorgeous! I also love the "cat speak" at the ends of your posts.
