We Are Not Amused

"I still don't know what's going on."

"Yeah, and you're still a big jerk for picking on me like that. I told you I didn't know!"

Poor Atticus... Friday is V-Day. I have a plan of action in place, and fingers crossed already! He just continues to be oblivious. I just remember why he needs to go to the vet everytime he opens his mouth and yawns. Dude. So needs his teeth cleaned...

In the meantime...this was not an amusing week. Above is just one example of the huge icicles I have dangling from the eaves. More snow this past week...can you tell?? On Wednesday morning, I plowed through knee deep snow to get to my train. By the time I got to the station (normally a very pleasant 10 minute walk), I was exhausted. The city finally got around to removing the snow from my dinky little side street yesterday. Which should make things easier, right? Well, let's see... Freezing rain today means walking on a sheet of ice tomorrow. Nice. I suppose I wouldn't have been so crabby and crusty this past week (I don't mind winter, really, I don't) if it hadn't been for a monumental tumble that resulted in and EPIC bruise on my backside. Don't ask. Just imagine. Be sure to include colourful language.

And the other episode added to my curmudgeony mood this past week... The demise of my Wheat Cable Vest. I seriously miscalculated my tension (did I ever tell you about how I failed Grade 10 math?), resulting in a very, very wide body. Very sad... So, I do what I always do when I make these types of mistakes - I quickly removed the circular needle, put it back in it's drawer, and shoved the ughed project in a bag and out of sight. Making it out of mind. I'll go back and retool it another day...right after I retool Grace. Wait for it.

But. There is always some good news!

"How am I doing Mae? Was I good to stand all over Mom's hat? Because this way, you know, she can't drape it all over one of us."

I had my Nordic Sweatheart hat artfully posed, only to have Gandalf nix that whole plan. But, as you can see - the main body is done, and I'm now working on the facing. See the section that is repeated twice? The lower section will be folded up to make up the brim. And when I'm done, I'll attach a tassel on the top. It's so cute! And pink! But that's OK, I like a little brightness against my black winter coat.

And Mermaid? Yes, she's done! DONE! But, as requested, I will post a modelled shot later this week. I have to block her, and pray that it fits. Even though my tension was as specified, I always go through a "moment"... You know, as you try something on for the first time. Pretty please let it look decent on me...

This week - the second episode of Season 2 of "Jericho" (watch it watch it watch it), one of the best shows in years; and for all you Coronation Street fans - what in the... happened to Baby Freddie??

Oooooo...

I couldn't watch Coronation Street when Claire was at the bottom of the stairs....and then when she's in the hospital telling Ashley to go find Freddie -- it was too much......then when they said they couldn't find him, I remembered Claire threatening the group next door in the shed - that wacko David was there -- what do you think? Did David Do It????

Dude, I see your epic bruise and raise you a cracked tailbone. Haven't been able to make it to yoga OR knit night for two weeks. On the plus side I've been getting to work from home more coz I can't handle the trudging through snow to the office chair from hell just yet.

Bridge- I KNEW he wasn't in there- maybe the kid put him in the garden shed?

So sorry about the bruised butt.

Love the hat! Your Mermaid is going to look awesome, I am sure. Can't wait to see the modeled pic. Now, if you were of a mind you could write a great murder mystery using some nice woman who lives in an apartment with 3 cats, who discovers her neighbors murdered and no weapon in sight. Then, she looks out onto her deck to admire her gorgeous, large icicles and realizes that the neighbors have no icicles. Where did they go? What has happened? OH MY! They may have been used as weapons!!!!!

Ooooh, neat hat! And cute Gandalf... erg, even though that means I can't really see the hat... =p

Hope V-Day goes well, with a minimum of fuss!

I have Jericho season 1 in my "too watch" pile...

Alas, poor Atticus - Chaos will be sympathizing, since he goes in for his shots Thursday afternoon.

After reading Rachel H's comment (ouch!), how has sitting been???

Hope your weather mellows out soon. We're having a "warm" weekend (it's +29F right now!), but it's supposed to be cold again by tomorrow. *sigh*

Hope you have something soft to sit on!

LOL! That's a lesson Chaos and May should learn.

Poor Wheat Cable vest! I've got the music from Twilight Zone playing in my head ;-)

I'm sending good thoughts your way for The Big Day ...

I can truly sympathize with you after your fall. As much as I love winter, ice is my arch-nemesis, I HATE it! Whenever someone tells me they enjoy sliding around on it, I immediately wish they would fall and injure themselves ...

I like the hat, I bet it will be warm. Sorry about your vest. Been there, done that.

Actually it's good Atticus doesn't realize it yet. He'd have time to find a truly fabulous hiding spot.

I think you should not be walking on ice. Call in epic-ly bruised.

Your hat! It's so darling! Even w/Gandalf on it. Almost done! Too bad about the vest. Gah. Crossing fingers for you on Mermaid! I have faith.

You need a nice fluffy pillow to sit on. What a winter this has been. My sympathies for your butt and your vest. The sweetheart hat looks great!

I hate ice too! Sorry to hear about Wheat Vest. Pink hat looks great, especially with Gandalf standing on it (black & pink = love).
We're watching Jericho too!
I feel sorry for both Atticus & G.
Looking forward to Mermaid! :)

hmmm, kitty teeth cleaning, sounds like a dangerous sport.

My parents have had blizzard after blizzard in NE Iowa. I so wish I lived in the North with you all.

Looking forward to seeing Mermaid. The hat is very cute. I hope your backside is doing better too.

I am so laughing at your last few posts. Poor Atticus! He sounds like my Tim -- does he have to be sedated at the vet in order for them to handle him?

Good luck with Mermaid -- I'm looking forward to seeing the FO shots! And I'm sending you lots of warm sunny thoughts to melt all that snow!
