Where Did My Self-Discipline Go?

"Hi. Are you my big brother?"

People ask me all the time - was Mae really that cute a kitten?

What do you think? She was adorable (and of course, she still is). And she LOVED Atticus - she followed him everywhere, and just wanted to be around him.

"Must...reach...big...brother..."

These were taken on her first day in her new home. Did I ever mention - Atticus and Mae had the same Mom.
And yes, Atticus was much slimmer back then.

"I still rock."

As a little experiment, I picked up a "pet bed", and see how it would go over. I figured if the guys went for it (cats and change...you know...), I'd pick up some more.

"Oh yeah."

I'll be picking up some more. Right now, Mae has taken over the bed, and Gandalf is trying to muscle his way back in. Atticus, ever the Mama's boy, naps behind me, even though this room is a tad cool.

"I am NO Mama's boy. Go show your knittin' stuff, and get that camera out of my face. And vacuum this place, geez...mama's boy...pffft..."

Heh.

Apart from this lovely bit of fabric, I have been all over the place with my WIP's. Isn't she purty??! I am now about halfway to the underarms, and you can really get a sense from the picture above how it's going to look. I can't tell you how lovely it really is, and the picture really doesn't do it justice. The colours fit perfectly together, and the peeries and Fair Isle patterning flow so nicely... *sigh* I love her. Lorraine did such a great job in designing this vest.

But as for everything else...I wish I was as enthused. Actually, to say I'm not enthused is not a fair assessment. I'm just not able to concentrate on any one project. I'm all over the place - I want/need a pink scarf/wrap (which I may have started...); I need/want a flowy cardigan (which I may have started...); I want to use up this stash yarn; what's easy for TV knitting? And so on...

Then there's the whole mittens situation. I really want to make the Druid mittens - I have more than enough Shetland Spindrift in pink - but one strand of 2-ply just won't cut it. I have delicate girly hands, and they won't be warm enough. Yes, I could use a double strand, but they will end up way too big, and I don't know if I want to rewrite the pattern to decrease the stitch count. So, I'm on the hunt... Lorraine has these queued - actually, they're done now (damn those knitting monogamists...!) *sigh* I confuse myself. I'll have to hunt through my sock yarn/2 ply stash. I'm pretty sure I'd have something, somewhere.

And yes. I have other WIP's. I blame it on the time of year, you know? This weather makes me want to just knit everything I see.

Discipline? Who? Me?

Aww, fluffy little girl! Sure sounds like how Mayhem was about Chaos. :)

I'm being pretty knitting monogamous, but I'd be getting more done if I wasn't. Heh. I'm working on a HUGE afghan that I have to take breaks from (sometimes of several days) so as not to overstress my shoulders/neck (it's HEAVY). During those breaks, I haven't been knitting anything.

That "bit of fabric" is amazing! It will be finished soon and then be truly magical. Who needs monogamy anyway. Been playing the skein game myself. You know, one skein for you, one for you, and one for the next you. That way, all the WIPs get attention.
Mittens! Oh mittens! Must make mittens. Wanna do another KAL?

Bridge- I was wondering about how warm the Druid mittens would be- I think they are more art pieces than cold and snow wear.

The Dimorphous ones are so fun to make, and such a great use for sock yarn. If you list your stash on Ravelry you can see what you have-
....and we can snoop.

Ya, Brigitte, list your stash on Ravelry ;-)

Ooo, Windsor is really coming along. Gorgeous!

Monogamy in knitting is overrated! Most things get done in the end and if you choose the "classics", they'll still be stylish when they're finished.

Isn't it great to look back at photos from when your best buddies (your pets) were so tiny!

The Druid Mittens -- I'd make them as designs (because I totally agree - one strand of Spindrift does not make a warm mitten - but it does give you the fabulous details that you want!) - so wear them over your fine leather gloves.

that's what I'm going to do if I ever get the chance to knit them - it's not like I dont have the yarn LOL!!!

What a cute kitten! Isn't it funny how the little ones are dying to be friends, usually much to the others' dismay?

That vest is gorgeous, I love the color combinations.

Re: Knitting monogamy. I am on pairs 8 and 9 of socks for Christmas gifts, out of a total of 10 pairs. Once they are finished, I'm finished with knitting monogamy. At least for a while ...

Mae was the cutest thing ever! Fuzz ball. Your vest is beautiful. I admire your patience for fair isles and stranded pieces. What yarn are you using?

Mae - yes, you rock! Love your perfect white eyeliner.

Brigitte - Love your fair isle. It makes me wonder why I'm making a shawl! I want to make those Druid mittens too, but concerned about size. Fulmar is perfect for your weather... it's *really* warm.

(Mr K would love you - you have 3 cats... he loves cats. I don't think he would help your wips, but would be a great distraction! He's so fun!)

Ooooohhhh, what a cute little ball of fluff! We had many fights over kitty beds, so I bought a couple more. They still fight over the first bed; apparently it's better than the other ones.

Beautiful vest! I hate that all over the place feeling, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets it. I have 2 pairs of mittens but that doesn't stop me from want a pair of Fiddlehead mittens.

Oh how I share your affliction! I haven't even blogged in a katrillion day but I have certainly started quite a few now projects. I too, want to knit me just about everything new I see. I really is sick! At my daughter's last cheerleading game on sunday... I'm walking up to the stands and sure enough someone comes up to me (I was wearing my Juliette) and ooohhhs and ahhhhhss and asks all sorts of questions about it (making me feel like a million bucks) and in the meantime... I dumbstruck by her incredibly beautiful magenta colored einstein jacket! I'm salivating... now I've seen einstein on blogs and in books many times over, but in person... well now I'm on the quest... go figure. a

Awww man, I thought that title and those first pictures meant a new kitty had joined the family :-)

She was awfully cute, what a bundle of fur.

WINDSOR is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad that I decided to copy you. I love those colors... they will clash nicely with my reddish hair, LOL! I can't wait to get that for Christmas!
I'm so glad that you're "all over the place" because what a validation for me! I wish I could be monogamous too, so I finished things more quickly, but I guess I just don't have that personality.

Kitty loves! Darn they are cute and Mae's such a fluff ball. I have 3 dogs and 4 beds - for some reason all is good if they still have a choice lol.

Windsor is beautiful - one of these days I'll learn to knit as fast as all of you!

I can't focus either, all over the board wanting to start new things, lots of knew things!

Mae is so adorable. i can't decide if the picture of Atticus glowering or Gandalf burrowing is cuter.

Windsor is gorgeous! So is that flowy cardigan. Monogamy is highly over rated.

A stranded mitten would be warmer. Or gloves with a mitten overlay, like Frankenmitten.

Pshaw. Knitting monogamy? Why?

Mae was adorable. Of course, she still is...

We have a saying in my family, "all kitties are babies." Even when they're ten and have legs like tree trunks. :) Mae is just so incredibly cute, both as an actual kitten and as a grownup one too!

Your cats sleep in cat beds? Please share this secret...

Your knitted fabric is so gorgeous. You are going to tempt me over the edge to finally do colorwork one of these days. I think you should work on what you feel like working on. I make myself stick to one or two things but then I don't work on them as often if they bore me.
